The Granby Artists Association was founded in 2002 by 12 artists working in a variety of media. The group’s goal was to raise awareness of the quality of artwork being created within the borders of our small New England town by running an Open Studio tour.  When we incorporated as a nonprofit in 2006, we re-affirmed our objectives to create a climate which promotes the visual arts and fine crafts, create professional artistic high quality events and support art education in the community.

As our membership has grown, so have our activities.  Our biggest event is our annual Open Studio tour each October. We also collaborate with the Granby Land Trust to support their annual paint-out and juried art show each fall, and in December, we present a holiday gift show. In support of the art education, we award an arts scholarship to a qualified Granby student. We also conduct art demonstrations at Holcomb Farm for both adults and children, and partner with local schools and the Senior Center to bring art to a broad spectrum of the local community.  One of the ways we create a climate which promotes the arts is to encourage our members to participate in group study sessions.  Our painting study group is an example of this, which gives members a chance to share ideas and challenges, and allows us to continually hone our artistic skills.

Membership in the Granby Artists Association is limited to residents of Granby, CT. Granby Artists is an all-volunteer organization. Members are expected to devote their time and skills to make the group a success. If you are interested in learning more about membership or to apply, click here.
